Havana in 2016 isn't much different than it was when I first visited in 2002. There may be a few more "new" cars -- mostly Ladas, of Russian make -- tourists, and street artists and performers, but the city is still an odd, almost surreal mix of cultures, of faded and sometimes restored elegance, justly proud of its music and art but perhaps in the final throes of trying to justify it's ongoing "revolution."
